Fibre
Our organic cotton is grown in India, Turkey and Kyrgyzstan. The cotton is certified by Organic Cotton Standard which ensures that it has been grown solely in organic farms that take care of the soil, ecosystem and people by relying on biodiversity and local natural cycles.
Our hemp fibres come from China. Hemp has similar properties to linen, it is very strong and softens through washing. It is natural, breathable, absorbs moisture and dye easily, has anti-bacterial properties, is an effective insulator keeping you cool in summer and warm in winter. Hemp is a fast and efficiently growing fibre that requires almost no fertilisers and pesticides and very little water. Often called super fibre hemp is great for the environment and is extremely durable.
The final ingredient in this natural blend is a small amount of Yak wool which adds extra warmth. Our fine yak fibres come from the Qinghai province, China. Yaks are long-haired domesticated cattle that live 3000 m above sea level. The fine fibre is gathered by hand-combing Yaks in spring when they shed their inner coat. The fineness and softness of Yak fibre are comparable to the quality of cashmere.

Fabric
Corduroy is made by weaving extra sets of fibre into the base fabric to form vertical piles, it makes soft and versatile fabric. Corduroy fabric has a long history- first created in ancient Egypt, then adapted by the British monarchy and re-discovered by 70’s bohemians, it is still one of the most loved natural autumn/winter fabrics. The fabric is piece dyed which means dyed after weaving or knitting the fabric, this creates a solid colouring throughout the fabric. After woven into fabric, cut and sewn, the garments are washed to give the fabric a softer handle as well as a more casual appearance. The fabric will continue to soften each time you wash it.

Factory
The yarn, fabric and garments are all made by our supplier based in Rushan, to the north of Shanghai. The garment factory is powered by solar panels and focuses on producing environmentally-friendly clothing using hemp. We are proud to have worked with this supplier and their team for more than ten years.
